The Parkway Center of Utica is actively seeking Volunteers for the following opportunities

 

TITLE: Volunteer Medical Transportation Driver

DUTIES: Transport Oneida County Seniors to and from non-emergency medical appointments

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 55 years or older
  • Must have valid New York State driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Access to a reliable vehicle with a current vehicle registration and vehicle insurance card
  • No criminal record
  • Genuine concern for others
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Access to telephone;  able to use and follow a schedule
  • Ability to keep accurate mileage records in accordance with given procedures

BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO VOLUNTEERS: IRS Tax-Free Reimbursement of mileage at the current rate of $.505 /mile, tolls and parking with printed receipts, and excess liability insurance.  The reimbursement you earn will not affect Social Security Disability, Food Stamps, or SSI status.  The rate is tied to the Federal government’s allowance which means that any reimbursement at $.505 /mile and below is not considered income.

 

The Parkway Center is actively seeking Volunteer Bus Drivers to assist us in transporting volunteers that work with the Foster Grandparents Organization, a group of seniors that work with children.  The volunteers for this organization need transportation from their homes to the sites where they volunteer.  We will be using our 10 passenger bus to transport them to the sites which include Calvary Church, Municipal Housing, and more.

TITLE: Volunteer Bus Driver

DUTIES: Transport Oneida County Seniors to and from their residence to volunteer sites in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have valid New York State driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Genuine concern for others
  • Reliable and punctual

 

TITLE: Way2Go Transportation Ambassadors

DUTIES: Provide peer to peer support to individuals that would like to familiarize themselves or learn how to ride CENTRO system. Ambassadors cover the advantages of using the bus, how seniors can register for ½ price bus fare, popular destinations you can reach by bus, how to plan a bus trip and how to transfer buses. Participants are given the opportunity to take a group CENTRO trip at a later date after the workshop.

  • Must enjoy working with people
  • Genuine concern for others
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Good communication skills
  • Have a good understanding of how to use CENTRO bus system
  • Able to maintain documentation

 

TITLE: Way2Go Transportation Ambassador

DUTIES: Present workshops in the community on Retired From Driving this is an hour and half workshop designed for the needs of older adults; it educates participants about CENTRO bus services, Rideshare, Call-A-Bus, transportation to medical appointments, and more. Participants leave with information about local transportation resources.

  • Must enjoy working with people
  • Genuine concern for others
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to present in front of a group
